an "Act of three dollare each by Messrs.Butterfield & Swire as Grace" to enable them to return to their homes.

As regards the Northern coolies, they will be sent on by the same steamer, if possible. Owing to the strict quarantine regulations at Japan, where the ships have to così, precautions must be taken by the Surgeon Superintendent that no beri-beri or infectious cases are sent on.

(e) See section 58 of the Transvaal Labour Importation Regulations re return of labourers to China. With regard to labourers' remittances, this has given me a deal of trouble, for

the following reasons :-

Because of the very defective postal arrangements in

china.

The non-issue of Money Orders in Hongkong for places
